Frank, part of the Radicals, has written a very interesting article looking at the subject of video games and Freedom of Speech as part of his degree course. It's a very interesting read indeed and certainly makes one think about the changes we are having to make. For easy viewing Frank has made this available as a pdf.

If you've ever looked at the stats pages of a site like BFBCS you may have noticed a set of pins for the weapons and classes with the name "SPECACT." This is unlockable content and has been available on consoles since Bad Company 2 was released. These kits have just been made available on PC, and can be purchased on the EA Store or Steam for $6.00 USD.

The DLC kit gives you access to a SPECACT player skin for each class and the corresponding SPECACT weapons. The weapons have the same stats as their stock counterparts except for the Medic's MG3. The MG3 SA has slightly higher damage and accuracy, and a slightly reduced rate of fire. With all SPECACT weapons, when you kill or are killed by a SPECACT weapon, the kill/death notice will have an SA after the weapon name to indicate it is a SPECACT weapon. As follows:

First things first, DICE has released a patch for Bad Company 2 today that is meant to prep the game for the BC2: Vietnam expansion and for the VIP Map Pack 7. The patch is a whopping 2.6Gb, so if you're in Europe or have a Gigabyte limit, be sure to download on off-peak hours. The change log for PC is as follows:

A handful of new screenshots and info on the upcoming Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack 7 have been posted on the official battlefield blog.

To start off there is new information on the new map, Cold War, posted on November 16th.

For any who don't recognize the name, Cold War is the first mission where you play as Marlowe and the squad in the Bad Company 2 single-player. The SP level involves fighting your way through a village in Vladivostok, Russia to capture a Russian deuce-and-a-half with a top secret weapon component aboard it.

I found this on a forum post in either the EA or Steam forums, can't remember where. It has some good information on how to tweak your Settings.ini file located in your My Documents/BFBC2 folder.

Yes, the title is right. On Nov. 8th DICE confirmed that VIP Map Pack 7 is on its way. Two days prior, DICE created a new article on the official Battlefield Blog. The title, "BFBC2 Playtest @ DICE" and it was accompanied only by a single picture:

Of course speculation kicked off immediately, with people proclaiming the return of Strike at Karkand, perhaps a remake of Road to Jalalabad (both were maps from Battlefield 2), or that its a port of the Bad Company 1 map Oasis.
